Instructure Canvas is a new, open-source learning management system (LMS).  Features like integrated multimedia, ePortfolios, web conferencing, online testing, assignment submission, chat/video, and integrated calendar.

Great innovative feature of Speed Grader…the interface allows instructors to grade papers right in the LMS.  Students can submit their assignments as uploaded Word documents, in the text-rich environment of Instructure Canvas or even the link from a web page if their assignment was posted online.  All assignments are viewable in the LMS, with easy grading features, rubric setup and tabulation.  Speed Grader allows written comments, feedback, video or audio comments also possible.  One single page for a teacher to see all students–who has submitted assignments and who hasn’t–preview of all submissions, viewable in the web browser irregardless of how it was turned in, easily grade the student, engage in a private conversation with the student about their assignment all from one simple interface.
